Akira!

So my parentals are here in London at the moment, which is bliss. A lot of my friends don't really understand the relationship I have with my parents, they are more like two of my best friends. We always have a laugh, I never get irritated at either of them and can talk about anything together. I think it is a pretty unusual situation.

But I'm not going to talk about that anymore just yet - I'm sure there will be plenty more stories over the next two months while they are here.... so instead, I'm just going to rave for a few moments about "Akira" which I revisited recently.

Two words: SEE IT.

That is an interesting relationship you have with your folks.

I would kill my dad if he was with me for two months.

I am on the opposite spectrum when it comes to relationships with parents... I cannot even spend an entire day with one... gouge my eyes out and shoot me bad!

Glad you have the amazing relationship you do and have fun with the fam!

2 months? Hope you are back more often! Hey, maybe you should have them guest blog! Oooowwwweeeee!

Akira...oh what's it about? I think it's awesome how close you are with your parents. Did they always have that kind of relationship with you (even while growing up)? Or it is something that evolved into since you've been an adult?

Isn't Akira the classic anime that changed the way people view animation? Are you telling me it's been updated?

No update Scribe - just a re-release on DVD (with updated English dub) so I obviously bought it!

But yes, a classic Anime film.

Anhoni - my parents and I have always been close (together with my sister) but since becoming an 'adult' I think the relationship has changed considerably - we had some difficulties with the whole gay thing initially but it's all good now!

I never blamed my parents for anything that went wrong in my life. They weren't perfect, but I wasn't either. I think its wonderful you love your Mum and Dad, I'm so tired of people blaming parents for their own fuck-ups, its so easy to do that. What I wouldn't give to sit down right now with the both of them and thank them. I can only hope my kids feel the same way about me as you do about your parents. I'm pretty sure I did a good job. Its obvious your parents did!

y'know, there's more to the Akira story in the comic book so I wouldn't mind a sequel.
